Participation in the conference “Physical Chemistry 2024”

Dr. Edina Avdović and Dr. Dušan Dimić participated in the 17th Conference on Fundamental and Applied Aspects of Physical Chemistry, “Physical Chemistry 2024,” held in Belgrade from September 23 to 27. On this occasion, they presented a study in which they analyzed the antioxidant activity of grape skin extracts from the Šumadija region. The extraction method used was ultrasonic extraction in 50% ethanol, chosen due to its application of green chemistry principles. This approach allows for efficient extraction using environmentally friendly solvents and minimizing energy consumption.

The research showed significant antioxidant potential in the grape skin extracts, indicating their possible application in the pharmaceutical and food industries. The importance of this work lies in its relevance to the circular economy and the use of bio-waste, as grape skins are a byproduct of the wine industry. The study also sparked discussion about sustainable approaches to producing functional ingredients.

In the continuation of the research, the focus will be on optimizing the extraction process to increase the efficiency of obtaining active components. In addition, the research will include examining the synergistic effect between grape skin extracts and other natural components. The goal is to develop products with improved antioxidant properties and potential applications in various industries. The results of this research represent an important step toward the sustainable use of natural resources and the improvement of the quality of products based on plant extracts.

The work attracted significant attention from the professional community and opened new avenues for research in this field.
