The Science Fund marked its fifth anniversary on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. High officials of the relevant ministry, representatives of the Science Fund, the World Bank, and the European Union Delegation to Serbia, as well as project leaders within the Science Fund’s call, attended the ceremonial anniversary celebration. As a representative of our project within the PROMIS 2023 call (GraSP_MAT), in the capacity of project leader, Dr. Edina Avdović, senior scientific associate from the Institute for Information Technology at the University of Kragujevac, attended the ceremony. The Science Fund of Serbia celebrated five years of existence, and Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, Dr. Jelena Begović, emphasized the significant importance of this institution for scientists and the scientific community in Serbia.

The Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation noted that the Science Fund, established in 2019, is the largest and most relevant fund financing scientific research activities in institutes and faculties in Serbia. She highlighted that one of the roles of the Fund is to bring closer scientists who may not have had experience in leading serious projects so far and to prepare them for applying for European Union projects, which are very demanding and challenging. The Acting Director of the Science Fund, Milica Đurić Jovičić, stated that she is extremely proud of the results of the scientific community in Serbia and the Science Fund. She pointed out that in the five years of the Science Fund’s existence, 11 support programs for scientific research projects from all fields of science have been opened.

On behalf of the GraSP_MAT project team, we congratulate the Science Fund on its five-year jubilee and wish it successful work in the coming decades!
